NEXT STUDY = TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 7th AT 7PM (next ones will be 9-14, 9-21, 9-28)

BRING YOUR BIBLE & JOIN US!! Cool

Topic = Book of Romans.  We're going to pickup where we left off - Chapter 5:6.

8-10-10 We're going to begin studying the Book of Romans - written by Paul to the Christians in Rome & believers everywhere.  The outline in my Study Bible says we'll be reading about "WHAT TO BELIEVE" and "HOW TO BEHAVE".

8-3-10 We concluded an 8 week study of the Book of Ecclesiastes.  What a great, timeless book!

6-22-10  We're going to begin studying the Book of Ecclesiastes.  My Study Bible says the purpose of this book is "to spare future generations the bitterness of learning through their own experience that life is meaningless apart from God."  Hmmmmm - sounds like this will be a great study!

Concluded 5 week study of the Book of Colossians on 6-14-10.  A great Book about TEACHING (salvation is available through faith in Jesus Christ) & WARNING (without God, people are sentenced to eternal separation from God).  Learned & discussed about the author of Colossians (Paul), the city of Colosse, the church at Colosse, the time & place of writing, and the purpose & theme of the letter.  Here are some notes from 4-28's introduction:

6 Reasons Why This Is The Perfect Time To Study The Book Of Colossians:  (per a sermon by, John MacArthur)

This is an age of science.  Let them know that He is the architect, the Creator, and the sustainer of the universe.

This is an age of ecumenism. [a movement seeking to achieve worldwide unity among religions through greater cooperation and improved understanding]  Let them know that He is the one true head of the one true church, His own body.  He is the all-sufficient Savior, the source of its vital unity.

This is an age of no-authority.  Let them know that He is the only authority, the image of the invisible God, the pre-eminent one in the universe, the embodiment of divine fullness, the source of all knowledge and all wisdom.

This is an age of pragmatism.  [the theory, developed by Charles S. Peirce and William James, that the meaning of a proposition or course of action lies in its observable consequences and that the sum of these consequences constitutes its meaning; a practical way of solving problems.]  Let them know that He can change a life miraculously and totally.  He alone can give love and joy and peace and forgiveness and every other good thing, and a new capacity for living life to the fullest.

This is an age of frustrated relationships.  Let them know that He is the source of true love and understanding.  He builds families and marriages and friendships.

This is an eschatological age.  [the branch of theology that is concerned with the ultimate or last things, such as death]  Let them know that He is the end, the hope, the climax, the coming King, the one in which all history resolves.

And when they know that they will know the message of Colossians.
